Zoë Ashe-Browne
Zoë Ashe-Browne is a choreographer, educator and dance artist from Dublin, Ireland.
Following her professional dance education in 2009 at the English National Ballet School, she was engaged as a performer with The National Ballet of Ireland, English National Ballet, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, and Company Eastman | Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. As a performer, her repertoire includes works by Pina Bausch, Alain Platel, Jan Martens, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, William Forsythe, Akram Khan, Alexander Ekman, Sharon Eyal and more.
Zoë began choreographing in 2014, incorporating both the classical and contemporary practices of her diverse performance experience to inform her choreographic voice. Zoë has been supported by The Arts Council of Ireland, Luail, Ireland’s National Dance Company, Dance Limerick, Irish Modern Dance Theatre, Royal Museum of Fine Art Antwerp (KMSKA), Opera Ballet Vlaanderen (OBV), and Dance Ireland where she was the Associate Artist for 2021/2022. Her work has been commissioned for creations with The National Ballet of Ireland, Landestheater Vorpommern, Theater Chemnitz and Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Valencia Dancing Forward 2022, Ghent Festival of Flanders, WhatNext Festival Limerick, and Dancer From the Dance: Festival of Irish Choreography in association with Irish Modern Dance Theatre.
In 2021 she became the first dance recipient of the Countess Markievicz Award from the Arts Council of Ireland and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport, and Media. Zoë is also a five time recipient of The Arts Council of Ireland Dance Bursary.
Zoë finalised at the 38th Hannover Choreographic Competition in 2024 with her duet ‘I’m trying to help’ winning a production award with TanzChemnitz. In 2026 she returned to the 40th Hannover Choreographic Competition with her duet ‘SIBLING’ which won 2nd prize and two production awards with TanzLinz and Tanztheater Braunschweig.
Zoë was the 2025 artist in residence with Luail, Irelands National Dance Company.
She is currently Guest rehearsal director with Opera Ballet Vlaanderen and guest lecturer at University Limerick, The Irish World Academy of music and dance.
